We’re driving towards our goal of making STEM accessible to EVERYONE

The problem at hand.

The Gender Gap in many STEM fields

Although a lot of students over the country are involved in STEM, there is still a considerable gender gap. In 2018, the average percentage of men involved in STEM was about 71% while the number of women involved was only 29%. That’s astonishing. Additionally, in STEM fields/professions the number of female graduates was only approximately 25% of total graduates. Clearly, fewer women are pursuing and applying STEM to their daily lives. This needs to change.

Racial Discrimination & Economic Barriers in STEM

Racial Discrimination has become a big problem in today’s society. Racial discrimination is prominent in many parts of the world but is especially prominent in STEM fields across the globe. Ever since 2000, the number of black people in STEM has decreased gradually, in which the numbers dropped to almost 5%! Fewer and fewer minorities are partaking in STEM work each day. Along with racial discrimination, many STEM programs are being gatekept only to wealthier people. This shouldn’t be the case. Every single person regardless of their ethnicity, gender, and/or socio-economic background should be able to have equal opportunities in STEM.

Our Solution.

The Plan

We’re attacking this issue at its base, by providing as many opportunities as possible to allow for STEM to truly be accessible to all. We make STEM accessible to you by providing competition opportunities as well as educational oppurtunities , everything is completely FREE and open to all.

Implementation

Our 3 main ways of attacking the issue and making STEM opportunities available for all are through virtual STEM events, our blog, and our JestCode Competitions.

At the end, we want to bring every person into STEM.
